Do you know the weathered natural stone pots from Olive Ateliers or Trouvaille Imports in California? We kept seeing them too, but only in California, only overseas. Not in the Netherlands, not even in Europe. That is what we now make available: the same type of pots, with the same origin and the same character, delivered in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe.
Montung sources every pot personally in Java, Indonesia. We select by hand and only pick the most unique pieces: the finest shapes, the most character, the best patina. What you see in the collection is not a catalogue but a personal selection.
Same origin, same aesthetic
The pots you see at American brands like Olive Ateliers largely come from Southeast Asia: handmade pieces of natural stone and clay that have stood outside for decades. That is exactly where we source. Every pot in our collection is personally selected in Indonesia, with genuine weathering, natural patina, moss growth and aged edges.
Do you love the wabi-sabi aesthetic, organic modern or a brocante garden style? Then you are in the right place. Our collection consists of pots, troughs and jars that are unique without exception. No two pieces are alike.
Why ordering from America makes no sense
Shipping a pot of 50 to 100 kilos from California to Europe means high freight costs, import duties and VAT at customs, and weeks of waiting. In practice the shipping often costs more than the pot itself.
At Montung all of that disappears. The pots are in Zuidoostbeemster, North Holland, 20 minutes from Amsterdam. You can come and view them by appointment, we deliver throughout the Netherlands and also arrange transport to the rest of Europe. Prices are listed with every product online, VAT included.
How it works
Our stock changes constantly: every sourcing trip brings in a new batch and every pot exists only once. Online you see a selection, in the Beemster there is more. Make an appointment via WhatsApp and come take a look, or send us what you are looking for and we will send back a fitting selection.

Prices are listed with every product online and include VAT. Most pots cost between €200 and €750, depending on size and rarity. Business terms apply for professionals.
Yes. The pots are handmade by local craftsmen and range from a few years to well over a hundred years old. The weathering and patina are real, created by the passage of time. Weather and time give every pot a unique, lived-in aesthetic.
